Finding a competent exterior cleaning and power washing contractor can be a daunting task; with near useless methods to high pressure sales, making an informed and intelligent decision can be tough. We all want great customer service, professional results, and to feel like we got a good value. How can you determine whether or not a power washing company is competent enough or will give you the results you expect?

We are all attracted to a low price because we like to work within a budget, but the reality is that professional exterior cleaning services are not as cheap as some disreputable contractors would have you believe. Some power washers attempt to come into the industry by low balling the competition and by offering extremely low prices.

Unfortunately, they are then forced to take shortcuts on the job to turn a profit. Inferior cleaners, cheap equipment, and questionable methods are common, resulting in undesirable exterior cleaning results and risk of damage to the surfaces that make up your home and property. You should also evade contractors that aren't willing to show you references or existing customer testimonials. How can you expect good results if their customers aren't saying good things about them? Seeing some of the results from past work can be very revealing, good or bad.

Moreover, and probably most important, you need to be sure the pressure wash contractor in question is able to show you a proof of insurance certificate. Taking their word for it is also fine if you feel they are trustworthy but just be sure to ask if they carry the appropriate insurance coverage. Not carrying insurance is another common mistake new or fly by night companies take part in.

They find that after purchasing equipment, cleaners, accessories, supplies, and leaving something for advertising many times there isn't enough funds left for insurance so they let it slide thinking it isn't important at the time. As you know, this can come back to hurt you and why should you have to carry the risk?

It is a good idea to question the power washing contractor about their methods and the steps they are going to perform to get to the end results. It won't take long, normally just a few questions, to know whether or not they are knowledgeable and experienced in the field of exterior power washing.

It is best to research and do your homework first before contacting any contractor about your exterior cleaning needs. Doing so will allow you to make good quick judgments about the power washing company you contact and will permit you to make an informed and intelligent decision when hiring a power washing contractor.
